The narrative of the history of the Punjab has been full of romance, sensation and heroism as well as of treachery, tragedy and cruelty. This monograph aims at removing to some extent the obscurity that enveloped the people and personalities treated of in this work. The work is an exceedingly broad analysis of the chief sources for the history of the Punjab in the middle of the eighteenth century. It throws a vivid light on the decadence and degeneracy of the Mughal rulers.
